The 2005 Season, A Preview

After a winter of hibernation and anticipation, the Major League Wiffleball of Milford is back in action. All the familiar faces are there: Janik, Williams, "Sweet Pea" Johnston, "Boom Boom" Cooper, etc. But there is one that is conspicuously missing. Last year's Cy Young winner, "BALCO" Remetta. Rumors of his steroids allegations and his "injuries" which will force him out of action for the duration of the season has some people talking.

"I don't know what's going on there. All I know is that I'm clean and I hope [BALCO] is too. You hate to think he got his great stats last year through chemicals and stuff." said an anonymous right-handed slugger.

"I knew he was dirty all along. That Cy Young was mine! I was robbed! I was robbed, Yo!!!" said a prominent right-handed pitcher. He adds, "I'm gonna cut him the next time I see him."

Although there were others who were less animated.

A respected leader in the league, "I just hope he takes care of whatever's going on, get healthy and get into playing shape and come back to the league. We need him, and we need him clean."

Other developments in the league includes a new strike zone due to the introduction of Questec. The new lawn chair that designates as the strike zone is slightly taller and narrower than last year's. Pitchers that have been Tom-Glavineing the past few years will have to learn to adapt to the new strike zone.

Also, this year is expected to be a boom year for new rookies. To add to the competition, Justin from last year still has his eligibility. It sure will make a great ROY race.

So get out to the ballparks now and root for your favorite MLWM stars!
