Player Updates

It has already been two months since the playoffs and the leagues been very quiet. Sure, there was the annual party, an exhibition game and that charity game that never really took off but other than that there has been little activity in the league. However, I have been snooping around the past few weeks and have some worthy news to report.
First of all: who is coming back? Some of the top superstars of 2005 were only under contract for one season so the MLWM was quick to sign a few. First off the MLWM did not hesitate to sign 2005 MVP/Rookie of the Year Nick Kaltsas to a three year deal with a league option for a fourth. It was reported that Kaltsas was extremely happy with his new contract. Next on the list of free agents the MLWM wanted to tackle was Tom Cadigan Sr. With an outstanding first year in the MLWM, Cadigan Sr blasted 25 homeruns, drove in 49, batted .451 and was a member of the 2005 MLWM World Series championship team the ‘Sumcoopadigans’. At first, Cadigan Sr. was unhappy with contract offered to him. Supposedly outraged, he stormed out of the MLWM offices swearing and saying he deserved a fair deal. After several weeks of tough negotiations, the two parties finally agreed on a contract. The details of the contract are still not known at the time but Cadigan Sr. will be returning to action next season. The 2005 MVP All Star Lew was offered arbitration but has rejected it. She has said that her first year in the MLWM was also her last. It comes as a shock to the league since she was building a nice hall of fame resume in her first season. After leaving the playoffs disgruntled, the MLWM took its time to talk with Carlos Figueroa. The league made many attempts to talk to Figueroa but he has not returned any of their calls as of press time. It is believed Figueroa has gone into hiding and has become a recluse since losing the championship game. After the game, Figueroa went on to say he blamed the loss on poor coaching by Joe Janik. The MLWM has also reached deals with Brendan Medeiros, Matt Mackin, Rob Sabol, Kyle Ahlberg and that kid Bob who showed up once.
The hottest rumor in the mill has been that a Wiffleboard member is contemplating on stepping down from office. Which member you ask? That is being kept top secret but it is likely the announcement will come at the 3rd annual MLWM Winter Meetings in December. If this were to happen, the Wiffleboard would have to appoint a new member. More to come as this story develops. The MLWM is also working on a possible football game to played some time this fall and a trip to see the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the winter.
That’s all the fake news for now. Keep checking back on the site for more news to come!
