Winter Meetings Announced!

The third annual Major League Wiffleball of Milford Winter Meetings will take place on Friday, December 30th at Wiffleball Headquarters in Milford, Connecticut. The meetings are to discuss new rules and regulations for the upcoming season as well as resigning players and possibly signing a few rookies. Like meetings of years past, this years meetings are already surrounded by rumors and controversy.

The biggest rumor going into the meetings is that a Wiffleboard member plans on resigning from office. If this does happen, a new board member would be chosen during the course of the meetings, which are estimated to run anywhere between 4 and 5 hours. Another rumor which has been circulating through the mill is the board plans on handing out several suspensions . It is not clear on who but a close source to the board members says one is due to ‘comments detrimental to the league’.

It is also believed there will be some changes on hand for ‘06, well, sort of. The board will most likely accept the double line proposal by Tom Cadigan. For the last few weeks of the '05 season and during the playoffs, a line was used to determine doubles from triples and singles instead of using the naked eye. It worked with great success but has not officially been passed by the board. It also believed the board will pass the 100 at bat rule, being called ‘The Carlos Rule’. If passed, the only players that would qualify for a spot in the playoffs would be the ones that have 100 at bats or more in the regular season.

In the next few days official e-mail invitations to the meetings will be sent out. Keep your fingers crossed you get one!
